NOTES

Funny Smart, Funny Real
Wednesday February 8, 2006

So here we go, real quick like a blog is supposed to be. Two stories you should check out that come with extra web goodies. This morning instead of shuffling through Morning Edition and pretending I was awake, I actually woke up, like really woke up with eyes and ears open and everything to hear Robert Krulwich’s story on…fetal cells affect on mothers. Which doesn’t sound thrilling, but believe me, it was. Krulwich has been doing some touching and moving work on Radiolab with Jad Abumrad the last few years, but I’m so glad to have him back on the air regularly. Hooray for good, snappy writing on the radio! The NPR page has additional information on the story and even a Krulwich feed so you don’t have to listen to the radio for real to catch his stuff.

And former Chicagoans, Long Haul Productions have posted the next story in their series of collaborations with songwriters. The series has a name now, Take Note. This time they team up with Lambchop’s Kurt Wagner to tell the story of WENK/WTPR’s radio show Swap Shop. MP3 of the story and a streaming MP3 of the song, available at the Long Haul site.
