I always kind of lost interest in Miranda July’s audio work whenever I heard it on The Next Big Thing. Halfway through, I’d drift and focus on other things around me. Dust bunnies begging to be swept up. Sun beams shining on bits of water in the shower.

It’s been a week since I’ve seen her film Me and You and Everyone We Know and I can’t stop thinking about it. So much doesn’t happen in its many quiet moments. And for all its ridiculous situations and relationships, it feels unbelievably real. Or maybe just more honest and ordinary than we expect to see on film. It will also make you laugh like you haven’t since you were in 7th grade.

I wish there was more radio that sounded like it.
